The Entertaining and Death-Defying

A traditional clown can be seen using many different forms of entertainment to appease the crowd. Some common clown acts include balloon sculpture, magic, slap-stik comedy, miming, puppertry and ventriloquism. Juggling, acrobatics storytelling, stilt-walking and unicycling are also all common clown acts. But the opportunities are endless. New clown acts are popping up everyday, and we highly encourage individuals to let their creativity soar with their performance.

The most internationally well-known circus, Cirque du Soleil, is a great example of performers utilizing aerial acrobatics. Trapeeze, suspended pole, hoop, also known as lyra, and aerial silks are all used for high-flying, intense acrobatics. But not all of their scenes incude heart-pumping feats of daring. Cirque du Soleil will interupt these moments with scenes of classic physical comedy and goofy antics.

A big part of the act lies in the visuals and vibes as well. Using the crowd and environment to a clowns advantage will elevate the performace to the next level. Clowns act as the ultimate improv vehicle, sussing out the way the crowd is feeling at the time to make sure the jokes land.
